Diane Ford was named Young Alumna of the Year and Rebecca Brock received the Distinguished Alumna Award from the Lundy-Fetterman School of Business at the school’s Alumni Day in October.
Ford, a real estate attorney in Winston-Salem, said he is grateful for the role Campbell University played in allowing him to tap into his strengths and goals and teach him the importance of ethics and values in his professional and personal life.
“I learned how to lead a purposeful professional life because of Campbell,” Ford said.
Brock talked about the family he still has at Campbell and how his alma mater has played a big role in his success.
“When I think about my career path, it’s built on the values I learned at Campbell: passion, persistence and purpose,” she said.
Today, Brock serves as Senior Vice President and Trust Director at Truist Wealth. During the ceremony, she encouraged students to strive for excellence in whatever role they find themselves in and reminded them that while career paths may change, the key is to support others, give back and stay grounded in their roots.
He left the audience with a quote from Winston Churchill.
Brock and Ford were joined by a dozen other Campbell Business alumni who returned to their alma mater to share their experiences and advice with business school students. The group of young graduates emphasized the importance of taking advantage of opportunities during college and the value of hard work and persistence in building a successful path after graduation.
Senior finance and international business major Craig McQuitty captured the spirit of the event, saying, “Alumni Day gives me an opportunity to connect with alumni who were in my shoes just a few years ago. Hearing their stories of transitioning from college life to the workforce provides valuable insight and helps me imagine what my own path might look like.”
